One of the first restaurants in Phoenix to offer a gluten free menu to customers, Picazzo's gluten free pizza was the first gluten free pizza that I genuinely preferred to the normal version. Unlike other cardboard-like crusts that I had tasted, Picazzo's gluten free pizza crusts are thick and filled with flavor. I can taste a lot of oil in the crust, which is less than optimal for health but certainly optimizes flavor and texture. Today, Picazzo's is an entirely gluten free restaurant, with other gluten free offerings including pasta, eggplant parmesan and salads. Their spinach and ricotta cannelloni is fantastic!
Spinato's is a cute restaurant with red and white checkerboard tablecloths and an intimate yet casual environment. The menu has a variety of gluten free options including gluten free bruschetta and gluten free pizza. They can make any of their pizzas on a gluten free crust. The crust is not my favorite, as it has a funny aftertaste and sort of melts in your mouth. However, I know people that love it! My favorite is Mama's Signature pizza with Spinato's signature sweet tomato sauce, pesto, spinach, and mozzarella cheese. Sometimes I add some feta too!
True Food Kitchen
True Food is one of Sam Fox's most popular concept restaurants. The theme of True Food is healthy and wholesome dishes with locally sourced produce. All of their dishes are labeled with gluten free, organic and vegetarian markers. In addition to offering loads of naturally gluten free items including the delicious spaghetti squash lasagna, they can also make their flatbread pizzas gluten free with a super thin and crispy crust. They have a delicious gluten free lemon tart with almond crust on their dessert menu.
